ELDD has it almost all. ELDD now sits on the top shelf with other key reference books and side-by-side with the prntice Linux Device Drivers, which it complements rather than supplants.
The reason I like this book over the other books is that it references code and tells you were in the source tree to find it. However, I still think that my complaints have been justified, and this author proves that you CAN write a readable, information packed book about Linux device drivers without glossing over vast areas.

Not many books devote this many pages to a misc driver, yet anyone doing true embedded software at one point or another MUST write a misc driver. Embedded Linux Primer Christopher Hallinan.
